Myles O Reilly is no stranger to Quiet Lights audiences. He has long documented the festival, was the featured artist in 2019 and has a short film coming out documenting the festival called Cork Under Quiet Lights, which premieres at the Cork International Film Festival.

Early life as a working musician began for Myles in 2003 with the band Juno Falls. Signed for two albums by Sony UK and then V2 records, Juno Falls disbanded in 2010. Ten years later and in a global pandemic lockdown, Myles returned to making music and has since composed, recorded and released a plethora of works in the ‘ambient’ music genre.

Since releasing his first album Laistigh den Ghleo alongside the first reissue of Satoshi Ashikawa’s seminal record Still Way, Gareth Quinn Redmond’s work has continued to be inspired by the concept of Kankyō Ongaku, Environmental Music.

This concept runs throughout Gareth’s approach to writing, which focuses on building and sustaining a connection between the listener and their environment. Last year saw the release of An Fhuaim is Caoine, a twenty minute ambient piece inspired by the discovery of an old music box, which is blended together with intimate string arrangements and analogue synthesisers.

This was followed in early 2021 by a brief departure into the world of electronica/dance alongside producer James Smith (Yurn) with their collaborative E.P Life’s Slow Build. More recently, Gareth released his album, Oscailte, a synth driven work inspired by the sound of the Juno 60 synthesiser, which was spontaneously written across a twelve hour burst of creativity.

Next year will see the release of 3 albums, out on Hidden Harmony Recordings, WRWTFWW Records and Francis Harris’ new label Out of Habit.
